Don’t force yourself into waiting until spring to sell. You can do it anytime, and I’ll show you why.
I’m often asked around this time of year, “Should I wait until the spring to list my house?”
No, you shouldn’t.
A common misconception is that homes are worth more in the spring and summer, which is simply untrue. Your home would only be worth more during these seasons if the market had improved in general or you had done additional repairs or updates in the meantime. Spring doesn’t arbitrarily make homes sell for more, and buyers don’t just buy because plants are beginning to bloom.
In our market, fall and winter aren’t so intense that they bring real estate to a standstill. Sure, there are marginally fewer listings and buyers, but an equilibrium of supply and demand always exists. Simply put, list your house when you want to sell it. If it makes sense to wait until spring for you to sell, then wait.
